the book octopus
my name is bree
I believe that stories are powerful: the characters that feel just like our best friend, the cliffhangers that make us gasp out loud, and the plot twists that keep us up reading past 2am. These books deserve to find their readers.
you can call me a book-builder
And I’m a firm believer that authors deserve to earn an income from their writing. This is the best time in history to turn your passion and craft into a career. It’s the so-called ‘new frontier of publishing’ which means that you can decide when, how and what you publish.
Authors aren’t the only ones who get to define a new path in publishing. A decade ago, my job didn’t even exist. Now I have the opportunity to work one-on-one with wonderfully creative people to help them live by their pen.
I created the book octopus out of a love of stories and desire to work directly with their creators. Now, I help indie and hybrid authors produce, publish and promote their books all over the world so they can earn an income from their work.

“Bree is fun and responsive, and has a solid grasp of what will create click throughs for book sales. After working with her, I saw an increase in books sales and discovered a new way to reach my readers through a visual medium. Now, I’m selling more books, and a number of authors are copying the approach.
I would highly recommend Bree to all creatives who are looking to connect with their customers.“
New York Times Bestselling Author
I began my career in London studying for my masters in publishing. Through that program, I had the opportunity to explore every aspect of the publishing process as well as contribute to top publishers like Bloomsbury, HarperCollins, Profile Books, and Hamlyn. I then worked for Palgrave of MacMillan, Dorling Kindersley of Penguin, and Miller’s of Octopus Publishing in the UK.
After relocating to New York, I worked with boutique publisher Assouline before joining the prestigious literary agency, Trident Media Group. In a small digital media and publishing team, I collaborated with both traditionally and self-published authors to produce and promote their books. I have had the pleasure of supporting campaigns for Justin Cronin, Lisa Scottoline, J.T. Ellison, Catherine Coulter, Maya Banks, Jaci Burton and Sylvia Day alongside publishers, big and small, including St. Martin’s Press, Ballantine Books, Simon & Schuster, and Penguin Random House.
Now, as the founder of the book octopus, I collaborate directly with authors and agents to provide marketing strategy, author branding, book design, and publishing consulting.
